Community Baptist Church Beliefs
All are welcome! Here is what we believe and teach. What We Believe
We believe that the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation is the verbally inspired and infallible word of God.
We believe the Genesis account of Creation and that it is to be accepted literally. Man was created after God’s own image and likeness.
We believe that there is one living and true God who exists in the form of the Trinity; Father-Son-Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is equal in divine perfection and executes distinct, yet harmonious offices in the work of redemption.
We believe Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and is the Son of God and God the Son.
We believe the Holy Spirit is God and is co-equal, co-eternal, and co-existent with the Father and the Son and is come to convict, regenerate, indwell, seal, infill, empower, lead, and administer.
We believe that Salvation is by grace, through faith, plus nothing. This means you accept the fact you are a sinner, so that as a sinner, you owe a sin debt, and that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to pay that debt for you, and that you put the matter of salvation in His hands.
We believe that we did nothing to be saved and can do nothing to lose our salvation.
We believe Heaven and Hell are real places where real people will spend eternity.
We believe that Sanctification is a process by which, according to the will of God, we are made partakers of His Holiness, that is begun at salvation and that it is carried on in the life of the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe the Local Church is a body of believers organized under the discipline of the Word of God and Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Church is to carry our the Great Commission.
We believe in the visible, personal return of Jesus Christ, judgement, and resurrection of the dead, in his perfect time and in his perfect way.
God’s Plan of Salvation
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.” – Romans 10;9
“For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Romans 10:13
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:1
Sola Scriptura
“Scripture Alone” is the only infallible Word of God and is our ultimate authority and source of truth to which all people are accountable. No church, organization, tradition, or person has authority for matters of faith and godliness equal to nor above Scripture Alone.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16
“For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” – 2 Peter 1:21
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
Sola Fide
“Faith Alone” in Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection for us is needed for salvation. No good works of our own can erase our sin nor merit our forgiveness.
“Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” – Galatians 3:11
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift from God, not of works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
Sola Gratia
“Grace Alone” from God is what saves us, not our own merit of any kind. Though we did nothing to deserve it, Christ Jesus who is God the Son, came to earth and died for us to pay the penalty for our sin to save us from hell and reconcile us to God. He gives eternal life to those who repent and believe by his grace alone.
“God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:5
Solus Christus
Through “Christ Alone” can we be saved. He is not just one of many ways to heaven, but indeed the only way. Before Jesus died on the cross, he asked the Father if his cup of suffering he was about to endure could be taken away, if it was possible. But it was not because there was no other way. Jesus Christ, the Messiah, suffered and died to save us from our sin and eternal punishment in hell.
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” – John 14:6
“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12
Soli Deo Gloria
To “God Alone” belongs all the “Glory” for our Creation, our Salvation from sin and hell, our Sanctification or being made more like him, and our eventual Glorification when sin is finally eradicated and we who believe spend eternity in happiness with God. He already receives all glory in the heavenly places where angels never cease to praise and glorify him, and he will one day receive all glory on earth as well. We take part already in bringing him glory as we follow him and bring the good news of the Gospel of his Kingdom through all the earth to every nation, tribe, and tongue.
“Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples!” – Psalm 117:1
“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
“For from him, and through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.” – Romans 11:36
